Position Overview
We are seeking three experienced Indigenous Rangers to deliver environmental monitoring, land stewardship, and cultural heritage protection across Turraburra and surrounding sites. One position will be appointed as Senior Ranger, depending on qualifications and leadership experience. These roles offer the opportunity to lead operational work while embedding cultural knowledge into every aspect of on-Country care.

We are seeking three experienced Indigenous Rangers to deliver environmental monitoring, land stewardship, and cultural heritage protection across Turraburra and surrounding sites. One position will be appointed as Senior Ranger, depending on qualifications and leadership experience. These roles offer the opportunity to lead operational work while embedding cultural knowledge into every aspect of on-Country care.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and implement environmental and cultural land management plans
• Conduct native flora, fauna, and waterway monitoring using both modern and traditional practices
• Manage invasive species, develop burn programs, and maintain firebreaks
• Protect sacred sites and cultural artefacts, mentoring others in cultural protocols
• Maintain site infrastructure and prepare environmental reports
• Represent YACHATDAC at relevant events and liaise with stakeholders
Essential Criteria
• Strong cultural grounding and understanding of Indigenous Lore and land connection
• Qualifications or experience in land management, environmental science, or conservation
• Minimum 3–5 years experience in relevant field
• Advanced 4WD skills and ability to work in remote environments
• Strong communication, reporting, and teamwork skills
Highly Desirable
• Certificate IV in Conservation and Land Management
• First Aid, chainsaw, chemical handling certifications
• GIS and GPS mapping skills
• Experience in mentoring or leading teams
• Project or budget management exposure
